Universal POS integration for restaurant technology

Omnivore (acquired by Olo)

Millions saved in menu costs · Vendor lock-in eliminated · Acquired by Olo

The problem

Restaurants were locked into proprietary POS systems with no interoperability. Menu management was manual across locations and vendors. Third-party delivery platforms (UberEats, DoorDash, Grubhub) couldn't integrate cleanly, costing operators time and money.

The approach

Designed a normalized API abstracting vendor-specific POS workflows. Built bi-directional menu synchronization with conflict resolution and data reconciliation. Integrated delivery platforms directly into POS systems through a unified order pipeline.

The outcome

Centralized menu management across multiple POS vendors, saving millions in configuration costs. Eliminated vendor dependency and expanded the addressable market. Unified delivery orders flowed directly into POS systems. The technology was a key factor in Olo's acquisition of Omnivore.
